J.L. Hudson, founder of the Hudson's department store, lived here from 1894 to 1904. Built for Detroit shipowner Philo Wright and given in 1882 as a wedding gift to Grace Whitney Evans of the David Whitney Jr. lumber family. Most recently used as law offices, and zoned Planned Development for residential or commercial use, subject to city approval. On a 0.38 acre lot, blocks from Little Caesars Arena, Comerica Park, and the new Hudson's Detroit on Woodward.
